Light Personal Electric Vehicles (LPEVs) offer a sustainable and flexible solution for urban mobility, reducing emissions, congestion and dependence on conventional fossil fuel vehicles. The recycling of LPEVs is important as it helps to reduce the environmental footprint of these vehicles by reducing the consumption of raw materials and waste generation. In particular, the recycling of their batteries is critical as they contain valuable and hard-to-recover materials such as lithium, cobalt and nickel, the extraction of which has significant environmental and social impacts. In addition, proper waste management reduces the risk of toxic soil and water pollution, thus contributing to sustainability and the circular economy.
